Each year Nashua Valley Council selects a Distinguished Citizen, chosen for their long standing commitment to our communities, their efforts to improve the quality of life, their tireless leadership in promoting the values that Scouting shares, and the example they set for our youth. Nashua Valley Council is honored to announce the recipient of the 2015 Distinguished Citizen Award:

Suzanne Farias
General Manager of DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton in Leominster, MA

Ms. Farias is a very deserving and outstanding individual.  She serves her time on various hospitality industry, non-profit, and regional boards.  The award will be presented at a dinner in Ms. Farias' honor on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at the Doubletree by Hilton in Leominster, MA. Social hour begins at 5:00 PM. Dinner will be served at 6:00 PM. Nashua Valley Council invites the members of our communities and our Scouting family to join us in honoring Ms. Farias.

Join us as we celebrate the accomplishments of our Scouts and thank key volunteers at the 2015 District Dinner.  

Wachusett District

When:Tuesday, April 14, 2015 6:00-8:00PM
Where: American Legion Post 129 Gardner, MA
Who: All volunteers of the Wachusett District and family members
Cost: $20 per person
Registration Deadline: April 7

Here are a list of few Awards that will be bestowed:

  • Unit M.V.P.'s (All Units are eligible)
  • Den Leader of the Year
  • Committee member of the Year
  • Cubmaster of the Year
  • Scoutmaster of the Year
  • Scout Veteran Pins (those registered between 5-20 years of Program)
  • Training Knots for Cub/Boy/Venture leaders
  • *NEW* Eagle Scout Recognition for Wachusett Class of 2014 - all scouts who earned their Eagle rank in 2014 will be invited to come, at no cost.
  • District Award of Merit - Two awards will be available to Scouters who render service of an outstanding nature at the district level. This the highest honor a District may bestow on a volunteer.

All Volunteers and their families are invited to attend.

Who: All volunteers of the Massasoit District and family members
Cost: $22 per person

Join the Massasoit District for an evening of fellowship to recognize some of our outstanding volunteers. This is a fully catered meal of prime rib and all the fixings. There will be a vegetarian option as well.

The district will be providing all the awards and entertainment for the evening.

Recognitions will include

  • Unit MVP awards
  • Commissioner Awards
  • District Awards of Merit.

Delivered in partnership with the SHINE Initiative Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (typically ages 12-18, but also younger) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis.

Youth Mental Health First Aid is delivered by a mental health clinician who is a trained, certified instructor. Youtth MHFA is an interactive 8-hour course, which can be completed in two 4-hour sessions.

Registration for the 2015 Boy Scout Resident Camp Provisional season is now open. Parents can register online at events.nashuavalleybsa.org. Registrations received by May 1, 2015 will be eligible for an early-bird discount. Registrations will be open through midnight on the Saturday before each week of camp.  Scouts attending troop with their camp should not register online with the council, but rather register with their Scoutmaster.
