To our Nashua Valley Council family:

For the past several weeks our council, and Boy Scout councils around the country have been engaged in an internal dialog about our membership policies. We thank all of the members of our Scouting family who took the time to share your thoughts and concerns as part of this dialog. We read all of your emails, and we listened to your thoughts at our town-hall meeting. Many of you took time to answer the online surveys. We deeply appreciate your input, and thank you for keeping this process courteous, kind, and friendly.

Nashua Valley Council is announcing an exciting new partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Fitchburg and Leominster to offer day camp opportunities for Cub Scouts this summer. The program will include a longer, 6-week season; a lower price, with breakfast and lunch included; options for a 9AM - 5PM day, or an 8AM - 6 PM day for more flexibility; and a location closer to home to reduce transportation time.

A Scout is thrifty...He earns his way to summer camp!

The Camp Card sale is designed to help Scouts earn their way to summer resident camp, the National Jamboree, high adventure camp or day camp. Units/Scouts participating in this program will earn a 50% commission ($5.00) on each $10 Camp Card they sell. The sale will begin on March 1, 2013 and end on June 1, 2013 giving units/Scouts nearly 3 months to sell and close out their accounts.

What is a Camp Card? The card provides coupons and discounts to local businesses throughout Nashua Valley Council. Each card will have three, one-time use discounts and a variety of year-long discounts. The card is “active” on March 1, 2013 and is good through December 31, 2013.

Effective Jan. 1, 2014, the Cooking merit badge and Sustainability merit badge will will be added to the list of badges required to earn the rank of Eagle Scout.
