This course is for registered BSA members at least 18 years of age, including Scouters in any program and older Venturers. Those involved in training Scouts and adults in outdoor skills and those who are concerned about the ecological health of our properties are particularly encouraged to participate. Course graduates are able to conduct Leave No Trace Trainer courses, required training for Scouts who wish to serve in the troop leadership positions of responsibility, and important training for Venturers and all adult leaders.
Weekend 1: Friday August 23, 6PM - Sunday August 25, 1PM
Weekend 2: Thursday September 12, 2 PM - Sunday September 15, 1 PM
The first weekend will be held at Camp Wanocksett in Dublin, NH. Program includes instruction on the Leave No Trace principles, minimizing recreational impacts, techniques for teaching Leave No Trace, and some hiking in and around the camp. The second weekend includes three days and nights of backpacking, camping, or paddling (based on the preference of the participants.) Each participant will present a Leave No Trace topic to the group as part of the second weekend's program. Some group gear and equipment will be available for loan during the course.
The course fee of $225 covers Leave No Trace resources, all meals, camping fees, and a one year membership in the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics.
