This is a version of Scoutmaster Basic Training aimed at Assistant Scoutmasters ages 18-21 who are new to the position, and making the transition from youth to adult. The course will put more emphasis on dealing with the change in role from youth to adult in your troop and methods of dealing with these changes as you assume your new reponsibilities.
The topics covered in this training include: Making the Patrol Method work, implementing a quality outdoor program, facilitating advancement, coaching and mentoring youth leaders, program planning, unit finances, and working with the troop committee. The training provides models and tools to help Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters develop and maintain a quality troop program.
This training is conducted as a classroom discussion that provides opportunities for networking with other leaders, comparing best practices, and sharing ideas.
This training will satisfy the basic leadership training requirements for Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters.
