Conclave 2013: In Review

The weekend of June 7th-9th, 2013, will forever be remembered as the best and, with an attendance of over 450 Arrowmen, the largest conclave Section NE-1B ever had.  One brother, who has been attending Conclaves for well over 20 years, simply said that our Conclave was "head and shoulders above" all other Conclaves. The months of meetings planning the Conclave and physical work that went into opening the camp and its program areas was worth it.

Though weekend began with a cold, wet start on Friday, the members of all Lodges enjoyed the cracker barrel and got to know each other.  Saturday started with a clear sky and a hot-and-ready style breakfast provided by the hardworking kitchen crew.  The day was nothing but extraordinary. In the morning, training sessions covered topics such as sending effective emails, working on your dance team, leading a group properly, even transitioning from high school to college.  At noon, a buffet-style lunch was served with hot dogs and hamburger.

Saturday afternoon was packed with fun.  In addition to every area in camp being open for free program (shooting ranges, mountain boarding, COPE, the climbing tower, etc.), there were also bouncy houses, a dutch over cooking demo, a Gisch dance show, and a climb up Mt. Monadnock.

Saturday evening continued strongly with a delicious meal prepared by the kitchen crew and served by the Wanocksett waiters.  After the meal, Lodges gathered at the amphitheater for skits and songs.  It was a night of great laughs and lots of fun.  Following the laughs, a solemn re-dedication ceremony led by Section Chief Elliot Gault was held on the main field.  After the ceremony, the sky lit up with a dazzling display of fireworks. To end the night, there was an ice cream social, a cracker barrel, and a live auction of Scouting memorabilia at the Dining Hall. It was a perfect night, at a perfect conclave, in a perfect camp.

Thank you to all who played a role in making the Conclave happen!
