Adult Training

Nashua Valley Council offers numerous training courses throughout the year to prepare our volunteers to deliver the Scouting program. Most training is free to participants. Nashua Valley also partners with neighboring councils to make training available to our volunteers.

Outdoor Skills for Webelos Leaders (OWL)

When: September 26, 2015 9AM-6PM
Where: Camp Wanocksett
Cost: No cost

Designed specifically for Webelos den leaders and their assistants, the Outdoor Leader Skills for Webelos Leaders course teaches outdoor-related skills through demonstration and hands-on practice. Webelos den leaders should attend this training before conducting Webelos overnight camping with the boys and parents of the den. In addition to covering basic camping skills, this training features planning campouts and finding resources.

Webelos den campouts serve to move the Webelos Scout to the next level of BSA's ever-increasing challenge in the outdoors. The Webelos overnight camping experience helps introduce the boy and his parent will be introduced to the basics of Boy Scout camping.

Bring a bag lunch and a water bottle.

Cub Scout Shooting Sports Training

Nashua Valley Council is organizing a shooting sports committee to facilitate more shooting sports activities at the council and district level. The inaugural committee meeting will be held in conjunction with a Cub Scout BB and Archery Certification Course.

Who: Scouters over 18 years of Age
When: Monday June 15 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm
Where: Nashua Valley Council Service Center
Cost: There is no charge for this event

This is required training for those who wish to serve on District and Council Cub Scout Shooting Sports Activities. The certification is good for two years and we would be expecting assistance with hopefully both the Spring Cub Scout Shooting Event on June 27 and Webelos Woods September 26 as well as other events throughout the year that the committee will be developing. The meeting will also be the first of the new committee to grow shooting sports in our council and area. This will be the first step in developing National Rifle Association (NRA) Range Safety Officers (RSO’s) and Instructors for the following Disciplines: Rifle, Shotgun, Pistol, Muzzle Loading and USA Level 1 Archery. Bring your thoughts, ideas and photocopies of any current certifications in Shooting, First Aid and YPT with you for our inaugural meeting. Any and all questions can be directed to Tim Bradbury, N.V.C. Shooting Sports Chair at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
