Training in the safety policies and procedures of the BSA's Youth Protection program is required for all volunteers in the Boy Scouts of America. Through the training the BSA seeks to create the most secure environment possible for our youth members. Training must be renewed every two years. Social media is used frequently by Scouts, volunteers, councils, districts, and units to share information, keep in touch, and socialize. As with all things in Scouting safety is the first concern. The BSA has developed guidelines for use of social media channels. Today's youth are spending more time than ever using digital media for education, research, socializing, and fun. To help families and volunteers keep youth safe while online, the Boy Scouts of America has teamed up NetSmartz and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to develop Cyber Chip, a training program aimed at helping Scouts stay safe online.
