Saying 'good bye' after a career of service

Saying 'good bye' after a career of service

On July 1, Nashua Valley Council's longtime office manager, keeper of Eagle Scout applications, DCAD coordinator extraordinaire, Popcorn General, and all-around supporter of our Scouts, Paula Iacoboni Richard will retire after more than than 30 years as part of the Nashua Valley Council staff. Our volunteers and our Scouts have been blessed and fortunate to have had Paula's support through the years. Although we will miss her, we wish her well as she embarks on this next part of life's adventure.

Paula asked us to publish this note to express her thoughts to the many volunteers and friends she's worked with over the years.

To all of the wonderful volunteers and friends that I have made through working at Nashua Valley Council BSA,

As of July 1st, I will be retired and no longer a part of the Nashua Valley Council staff. Retirement has been a bittersweet decision. While I am looking forward to spending more time with my family and friends, I will miss all of the wonderful people that I have had the opportunity to work with over the many years I’ve been with the council.

During my tenure, I have worked for six Scout Executives and many District Executives as well as a great office staff. My years here have been fulfilling, at times challenging and yet enjoyable. I have truly loved my job because of the diversity, but mostly because I have gotten to know and work with so many terrific volunteers and community leaders. However, while I have mixed emotions, I am ready to move on to the next phase in my life.

I know that I will always be a part of this council because of the wonderful endowment gift that was presented to me at the annual dinner. I was totally surprised and wonderfully pleased that I will always be connected to the Scouts within Nashua Valley.

My grandson is a Scout with Troop 12 Leominster so maybe someday our paths will cross again at some Scouting event.

Thank you to everyone who has touched my life during my years working with the council. It has been a real pleasure working with all of you.

Paula Iacoboni Richard
