Nashua Valley Council has received an allotment for 8 crews to attend Philmont in 2016. This will permit a total of 96 Scouts and Scouters from Nashua Valley Council to partake in one of Scouting’s most exciting high adventure opportunities.

The contingent will depart the Boston area on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, arrive at Philmont on Thursday, July 21, 2016 and return home on Tuesday, August 2, 2016.

We need your help! We all know that Camp Wanocksett is one of the premier Scout camps in the Northeast. Camp Split Rock hosts our Cub Scout Day Camp and many of our off-season training programs. What many of our visitors may not realize is that it takes a huge effort on the part of our volunteers, between September and June, to keep up with the routine maintenance and new projects that help keep these camps in the front of the pack.

Thanks to grants from the Magee Foundation, financial support from our communities, and the success of our summer camp program, we have had major building projects at both Camp Wanocksett and Camp Split Rock every year for the last decade. We’ve built three new composting restrooms, a new shower house, a climbing tower, new staff housing, rebuilt the high ropes course, replaced roofs, doors, and windows, and completed major structural repairs on several aging buildings. We’ve done all of this, almost entirely, with volunteer labor.

We’re not done yet!

An Overnight at the Museum of Science is a special program that inspires children, to discover science in an entertaining, educational, and interactive way. A typical Camp-In includes a variety of hands-on science activities, science demonstrations, a late night show, a morning activity, an Omni show, and time to explore the Museum with chaperones. Camp-In instructors facilitate fun science activities that enhance Museum exhibits
