Wanocksett receives national accreditation

On July 8, 2010, an inspection team assigned by the Northeast Region visited Camp Wanocksett to evaluate the camp against a number of safety and quality standards proscribed by the Boy Scouts of America. For the twelfth year in a row Camp Wanocksett met all the standards and received the rating of Nationally Accredited Summer Camp.

Boy Scout summer camps are evaluated annually for compliance with 110 standards, set by the Boy Scouts of America. The national standards address health and safety of campers, volunteers and staff, minimum requirements for summer camp staff, camp equipment and facilities, food service, and program opportunities. The visitation team consists of volunteers from outside of Nashua Valley Council.  This visitation in one of several mandatory inspections of Camp Wanocksett's facilities, equipment and program. The camp is also evaluated annually by the board of health, fire marshall, building inspector and the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services.
