Clarification: CIT Applications

It has come to our attention that two application deadlines were listed in the 2010 CIT application. Nashua Valley Council appologizes for any confusion this may have caused. Please be aware that the application deadline for Counselors-In-Training (CITs) is March 1, 2010. An orientation meeting for CIT applicants and their parents will be held in the April/May timeframe. Applicants will receive a notice of this meeting and details will be posted on the camp Web site.

Webelos Woods sets record attendance

The sun was shining and a crisp autumn breeze was knocking the first leaves off of the trees as 348 Webelos brought their mothers and fathers to Camp Wanocksett on Saturday, setting a new record for attendance at the camp. They had gathered for Webelos Woods, a family camping experience that gives Webelos a chance experience Scout camping, tour the Boy Scout summer camp, and earn one of nine activity badges.

They participated in a variety of outdoor activities, including rock climbing, b.b. guns, and hatchet throwing. They were treated to a performance by the Order of the Arrow's Native American dance team, and displays of Scout skills by several troops. At a special crackerbarrel, Parents were given the opportunity to learn about Venturing, the Order of the Arrow, Boy Scout summer camp programs and the national high adventure bases.

The day was capped off with dinner, cooked in the campsite, and a rollicking campfire program. Even the rain that began in the early hours of Sunday morning couldn't dampen the spirits of boys and parents as they packed the camp dining hall for breakfast before heading home.

Webelos Woods is one of the largest events hosted by Nashua Valley Council. It is supported by dozens of Scouts, Venturers and adult volunteers who spend months planning the program.
